Featured Seller: feltcats

Who are you ?
Felt Cat's Photography, but you can call me Jake.

Why did you choose your shop/company name?

When we were naming the business my fiance asked me to describe my process. I said, "My pictures are like throwing cats at a felt wall, sooner or later, one will stick." Like the cat, the name stuck.

Where are you located?
Wilmington at the moment.

What do you create?
Photographs and clutter for my fiance to fuss about.

What inspires you?
I have an almost maddening need for order and balance, so the photographs I take all appeal to that need. I don't go out looking for my shots, I just go for a walk with my camera, and when something happens to catch my eye, stop and snap the shot.

What are your goals?
I've been ill for a while, so the ultimate goal of the business is to help me relax. I also want to be shown in galleries (I have my first showing lined up!) and make a little money on the side.

What is your favorite place to visit in the Triangle?
Duke University, because that is where I went to learn the fine craft of history, which I have never and will never use. It gave me some great memories, though.

What do you do when you are not creating?
I like playing videogames and hanging out with my fiance, dog, and cats. Don't worry, I have not actually tried the felt theory with any of them. Yet.

--Jake's photographs tend to be nautical and animal themed, but he's recently added some historical photographs that are also quite beautiful. In addition to his prints, Jake also sells notecards with his photographs printed on the front.
