Local Featured Seller: Freshly Given

Who are you? I am Whitney Robinson, Creator and Designer behind the accessory line, Freshly Given.

Where are you located? Durham, NC

What do you create? Hand crafted accessories (jewelry and hand bags/clutches) all made from re-purposed leather.

What is your favorite place to visit in the "triangle"? The scrap exchange. This is where I receive some of my inspiration. Better yet, it is a Re-Use center so the impact of my dollar is seen throughout the environment and my community.


Rosette Leather Earrings

When did you start creating? I started creating in July of 2011.
What is your most cherished handmade item? My first pair of leather earrings I whipped together with my husband's tools.

Why did you choose your medium? More like it chose me. I have a computer science degree, so this was not my life goal. However, a little trip to the scrap exchange sparked in me a desire to create more with my hands. Now, I LOVE what I do!

What inspires you? The shapes and colors of the fabric/materials inspire me along with the challenge to transform unwanted fabric/materials into "stylish" and wearable art.


Leather Wrapped Half Hoop

Where do you create? Where ever I can sit comfortably for a few hours. Usually my living room floor.

Why did you choose your shop/company name? My husband was a major factor in the name Freshly Given. I love the word fresh but could not bring it full circle. Being the clever man that he is, my hubby blurted our "freshly given" and it stuck ever since. I love it. It embodies everything I do and plan to do in the future.

What are your goals? To work hard at what I enjoy, linking my passions and purpose ever chance I get.
