Who are you?
Kat, Forever Scorched (I also run cscdesign and sugargirlbakery)
Where are you located?
Northern Wake County, NC
What do you create?
A Wide array of items decorated using Pyrography. I also create graphic artwork and baked goods.
What is your favorite place to visit in the "triangle"?
There are several...but to pick one I would go with Pullen Park, downtown. There is a Lot of nostalgia there for me...from a very young child playing with my dad and sister on the concrete dolphin and riding the train and paddle boats, to walking around killing time with my friends as a teenager skipping school. It is one of those places that has managed to stay the same, and I like that. :)
Why did you choose your medium?
I decided to focus on my pyrography because it is a skill that I have been practicing for many years, and the possible creations using that medium I have found to be nearly endless. It brings tons of opportunity for custom made items that truly are one-of-a-kind, and can be treasured for generations. Pyrography is one of the most ancient forms of art, and yet one of the most adaptable and versatile.
What is your next project going to be?
I always have some project going, or a few....but my biggest project at the moment is a line of custom burned Drums.
What inspires you?
Everything around me...my children, my family and friends and the things that they love, nature, entertainment, people and places...inspiration seems to lurk around every corner. :)
What is the most time consuming part of your craft?
Creating the design can sometimes take a little time, but my dedication comes from the hours spent with a red hot pen in my hand working meticulously to burn something beautiful onto a surface.
What do you do when you are not creating?
I am a Full Time mom, teacher, chef, chauffeur and wife at home...and I now work part-time in the frame shop at everyone's favorite arts and crafts store.
