Handmade Happenings - September 16-19, 2010

Both Raleigh and Durham are hosting fantastic arts events this weekend! The festivities begin tonight in downtown Raleigh, so there's plenty to do, see, hear and enjoy.  See you there! 

Thursday - Sunday, September 16-19
5th Annual SPARKcon
A “creative potluck” of SPARKs or creative themes such as art, music, film, fashion, food and more, organized by local individuals to display local talent and connect disparate creative scenes. This festival is made up of more than 16 different events over the 4 days -- check the schedule to find the "SPARKS" you won't want to miss!

When: Saturday - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm;  Sunday - 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

* Donata of OldBroomStreet will be reading in the poetrySPARK at Isaac Hunter's Oak City Tavern, 112 Fayetteville Street, on Saturday - 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.  (Our team members are multi-talented! ;)

Saturday & Sunday, September 18-19
37th Annual Centerfest Arts Festival
124 juried visual artists from 11 states showcase and sell their original, handcrafted work in clay, drawing, fibers, glass, painting, photography, printmaking, wood, jewelry, mixed media, and sculpture.  Music, dance and entertainment on 3 stages, Hands-on art in the Creative Kids-Zone, fun festival foods, and more!
Where: Foster Street at Durham Central Park, Historic Downtown Durham
When: Saturday - 10:00 am - 6:00 pm;  Sunday - Noon - 6:00 pm
Seller to look for: Gilded Lily Glass

Saturday, September 18
Rock the Block with Chris Paul- Winston-Salem
An end of summer street party!  The Benton Convention Center will host a craft show with more than 30 local & regional artists, while outside along Fourth, Marshall, and Fifth Streets, Rock the Block will offer free music on four stages, a free BMX Bike show, a ticketed ($5) wine tasting festival,  food and merchandise vendor, and NBA star Chris Paul.
Where: Downtown Winston-Salem (map)
When: Craft show - 11:00 am - 6:00 pm (Performances continue until 11:00 pm)
