Local Featured Seller: Kitsch Lorraine Style

My name is Pamela Batson and my store is Kitsch Lorraine Style. I'm located in Charlotte. I was born and raised here, then moved to Chicago in 1996, and recently moved back here last year. I make handmade jewelry including pieces with resin, natural stones, seashells, and some vintage pieces mixed in with new pieces I find. My inspiration comes from some of my favorite things, including Day of the Dead memorabilia, classic films and silent movies, nautical themed and vintage items.
Day of the Dead Cats Photo Frame Earrings
My favorite place to visit in the triangle would probably be the State fair because I'm a big kid at heart.   I've always enjoyed doing creative things, but I just started seriously making jewelry about a year ago. I love working with resin and polymer clay because there are so many uses for them. Some of my favorite things to make are the resin bracelets. They remind me of the 60's Lucite bangles which I love.
Wire Wrapped Evil Eye Bracelet
I create most of my items in my home. I chose the name Kitsch Lorraine Style because my middle name is Lorraine and I love vintage B-52's (ie: Quiche Lorraine). My most cherished item is a necklace I made in dedication to my great-grandmother who raised me. My personal goals include branching out and selling my jewelry in different boutiques around the area and possibly in other locations in the U.S.
Sea Shell Eco Resin Bracelet Bangle

When I'm not making jewelry, I am watching animals (I have a pet-sitting business), catching up with friends, or taking advantage of going to the beach and the mountains.

Don't forget to heart your favorite items in  Kitsch Lorraine Style!

Where We Create: Twisted Love

Who are you? Mickey Snowdon and Brianna Travell; co-creators of Twisted Love

Where are you located?  Charlotte, North Carolina
What do you create?  We create handmade wire wrapped metal jewelry.

How would you describe the space in which you create?  An unfurnished, unelaborated, unorganized, unorthodox creative haven.
What is your favorite thing about your space?  It is very close to the coffee maker and beer.

How do you keep your space organized?  Brianna occasionally takes inventory, and we have a lot of Tupperware. And by a lot, we mean 30 containers.
Do you have inspiration pieces in your space? If so, what are they?  Mickey’s handed-down Leopard painting and Brianna’s dad’s historic record player. Oh, and our eleven year old Chihuahua.

Enjoyed seeing Twisted Love's workspace?  Don't forget to find their beautiful jewelry on etsy, visit their website, like them on facebook, and join them on pinterest!

Local Featured Seller: Twisted Love

Who are you? Mickey Snowdon and Brianna Travell; co-creators of Twisted Love

Where are you located?  Charlotte, North Carolina

What do you create?
We create handmade wire wrapped metal jewelry.

What is your favorite place to visit in the "triangle?"
Our favorite place to visit in the “triangle” is Chapel Hill. We appreciate the independent music and art scene.
Cosmic Copper Earrings
When did you start creating?  We began creating Twisted Love October 2012

Why did you choose your medium?
~ Mickey: I like the flexibility and freedom of using metal. Adding fun beads and intricate wrapping act like adornments to the base metal, and I like contrasting silver and copper.
~Brianna: I like the rustic look metal has to offer in jewelry. I like the ability to create pieces for people to wear as an expression of artistic form rather than an accessory for an outfit.

What/who inspires you?
~Mickey: I think examining things like the way branches in trees twist together and other designs found in nature inspire me the most.
~Brianna: I find inspiration in the music we play while we create our pieces. I also really enjoy gathering inspiration from other artists who focus on steampunk pieces.

Twisted Copper Earrings

Where do you create?  Currently our studio consists of a plastic folding table in the middle of our living room. Our table/office happens to be adjacent to our eleven year old Chihuahua’s bed.

Why did you choose your shop/company name?
We create pieces we love and add a twist!

What are your goals?
We aim to eventually run our own studio/farm. We would like to have ample space to create and allow others to create as well. In addition to the studio we would like to have our own farm compound.

Turquoise Twisted Dangling Earrings
What do you do when you are not creating?  We go on extended walks on our local trail system!

After you've viewed Twisted Love's beautiful jewelry on etsy, don't forget to check out their website, like them on facebook and join them on pinterest!
