Handmade Happenings, October 15-16, 2011

A beautiful fall weekend in store for the Triangle area, so come out & see some of our team members display their work at one of these great events!  See you there!

Saturday, October15
The Saturday3 Fair at NOFO @ The Pig - Raleigh
Join us for food & fun under the tents! Five Points Farmers Market vendors and tarheel food artisans, plus local artists offering jewelry, children's clothing, paintings, and more!

33rd Annual Holly Arts & Crafts Festival - Pinehurst
Nearly 200 artisans and crafters in a variety of genres - from woodworking to glass, stitched art to lawn ornaments, hand-crafted jewelry to metal sculpture, gather in downtown Pinehurst.  Area restaurants and food vendors dot the gathering as downtown shops offer sales and specials.

Cooke Street Carnival - Raleigh
The 2011 theme is The Sideshow and Circus Freaks so dress up in your carnie attire and come have some fun with the rest of the freaks in the street. Art, performers, music & food! The event is a Can Drive for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina (http://www.foodbankcenc.org/) so bring some cans to donate!

Handmade Happenings, October 1-2, 2011

Autumn is truly upon us, with great events in the Triangle area this weekend! Southern Pines, Chapel Hill and Raleigh each feature festivals for the whole family, and two of our members are taking a trip to a festival in the DC area.  Near or far, we hope you'll come out and say hello!

Saturday, October 1
Autumn Fest - Southern Pines
Presented the 1st Saturday in October, Autumnfest is a small street festival that includes live entertainment, arts & crafts booths, food, 5K road race, rides, and more. Everyone is invited to come early to the picturesque setting of Southern Pines and enjoy this wonderful, small-town festival!

Festifall - Chapel Hill
Chapel Hill’s annual celebration of the arts boasts over 100 quality artists, live entertainment for all ages, hands-on activities, and local food. Chapel Hill residents and people from neighboring communities will have the opportunity to explore our booming local art scene supporting the artists that make our communities and local economy vibrant.

Art on the Avenue Festival - Alexandria, VA
A multi-cultural arts festival celebrating our community’s diversity through the arts in the Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia. This festival is held on the first Saturday in October, rain or shine! More than 300 artists (jewelers – silversmith & beaders, woodworkers, pottery makers, soap crafters, glass makers, unique painters, sculptures, fabric artists), musicians, and food vendors. Kids activities, too!

Techshop RDU is one of the Meet-Up sites for this weekend's Etsy Summit!
The Acorn to Oak Handmade Team and Techshop RDU have planned 2 amazing full days of DIY, handmade and creative business classes - some streamed live from Etsy's summit in Berlin, some live and in person here in Raleigh.  There's something for everyone - yarn & fabric swap, wood turning, painting, metalsmithing, a food truck rally for lunch on Saturday, and much, much more!

The "DDM" features fine locally made arts and crafts with an outdoor big city feel.  Our vendors showcase some of the finest handcrafted arts and crafts in the area: jewelry, pottery, apparel, stained glass, paper crafts and more!
