"Art After Dark" Artist and Crafters Market - Fuquay-Varina
Come to our special Holiday Edition of "Art after Dark." This month's events feature a Holiday Artist and Crafters Market, Holiday Carollers, local artwork, a painting class, a x-mas Dinner Theater Performance, jewelry making, kid's crafts, a wood carving demonstration, local music, and Santa Claus!

Handmade Happenings, Sept. 24 & 25, 2011

Time for the Road Trip Edition of the Handmand Happenings! This weekend our member artists are hitting the road for 2 great events.  They are in different directions, but don't let that stop you -  Go west on Saturday to the West End ARTSfest in Winston-Salem, and then head east on Sunday to catch the 2nd day of the International Folk Festival in Fayetteville.  ;)  See you there! 

Saturday, September 24
Historic West End ARTSfest - Winston-Salem 
"Experience the arts amid the artistry of nature." This special event features the work of more than 60 fine artists working in a variety of media. Local musicians perform in the Grace Court gazebo, and children can participate in a special arts and crafts area. Local restaurants provide specialty foods and drink. The event is free.

International Folk Festival - Fayetteville
Fayetteville has a rich and long history of celebrating its multicultural population. Years ago, a group of forward thinking citizens got together to create the International Folk Festival as a celebration of our diversity. Now in its 33rd year, the International Folk Festival has become a weekend-long celebration. Show features live entertainment, authentic cuisine, unique arts and crafts, children’s area and more!

Handmade Happenings - September 10-12, 2010

There are plenty of exciting events happening in and around the Triangle this weekend - there's something for everyone!  Stay in Raleigh for arts & music, road trip to Wilmington for arts & the beach, or if you like it hot, check out all the spicy North Carolina goodness happening in Oxford.  If you're really in to handmade shopping, you can even trek to the Indie Craft Parade in Greenville, SC.  Enjoy!

Saturday, Sept. 11
Five Points Street Festival & Block Party
The Merchants at Five Points are hosting a Street Fair and Block Party! The 20 plus Street Fair Vendors include Queenies Weinies, Local Yogurt, Locopops and Carolina Popcorn, and all restaurants and shops will be open for lunch and shopping.  Kid’s Zone & Live Music all day provided by The Kudzu Ramblers, Stackhouse, Jean Jolly and Mebansville.

Morning Times Market (Hopscotch Music Festival)
The Morning Times Market is back and better than before! This month, you get to shop while listening to live music from some great local bands during the Independent Weekly's Hopscotch Music Festival! Ten local artists and fine crafters will be selling their handmade work, including jewelry, pottery and art. Look for us near the parking lot of the Mechanics & Farmers Bank at the corner of Hargett and Wilmington streets.

Downtown Wilmington Art Walk
The Art Walk will showcase paintings, photographs, jewelry and sculptures, from artists in eastern & central North Carolina. This event will offer the best art from the region in one location. The entire event will be held on Front Street and will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the Walk. Downtown City parking decks will be free for the entire day.  Part of Wilmington's artBLAST festivities all weekend long.

NC Hot Sauce & Heritage Festival

Artscape - Baltimore, Maryland

America’s largest free arts festival, Artscape features 150+artists, fashion designers and craftspeople, including DIY/new wave crafters; visual art exhibits on and off site, such as outdoor sculpture, art cars, photography and the Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize; incredible live concerts on four outdoor stages; a full schedule of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, fashion, film, experimental music and performances by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; family events such as hands-on projects, demonstrations, jazz vocal and combo competitions, children’s entertainers and multiple street theater locations; and a delicious, international menu of food and beverages available throughout the site.

33rd Annual Lake Festival - Clarksville, Virginia
This event includes a wide variety of festivities from Thursday - Saturday, with a Juried Arts & Crafts Show on Saturday.  Nearly 200 artists from across the Southeast, including water ink, acrylic and oil paintings…even face painters, pottery, leather products, birdhouses and garden accessories, carvers and sculptors, jewelry made from bicycle spokes, live bonsai trees, items to be personalized on the spot, blown glass jewelry, photography, clothing, home accessories and even pet attire–just to name a few.

Several exciting events this weekend to keep you in the summer holiday spirit! The indieNC First Friday Market is part of the First Friday fun happenings in Downtown Raleigh. If you're a little farther south, stop by the Shops of Varina Merchantile or the Celebration of the Arts in Fuquay-Varina. Or, a little further north, visit the Granville Arts Festival, just this side of Oxford.

Road Trip to Winston-Salem

A short road trip to the piedmont area of North Carolina this weekend will give you the chance to shop with a variety of talented artists.
